InnoDB engine missing (2 replies)

I loaded mysql 5.1.52 on two different machines (both with Ubuntu 10.04).

I want to use InnoDB exclusively. I copied the my-innodb-heavy-4g.cnf file to /etc/my.cnf. On one machine it appears that the InnoDB engine is hiding. When I do a "show engines" it is missing. I re-installed on that machine. Same results.

I have rebooted and the problem remains. Anybody know what's going on?
